Project Overview

Project Summary

A 160T Hydraulic Metal Baler was commissioned in Samut Sakhon, Thailand, for compacting various types of scrap copper into uniform bales. The baled copper is easier to store, transport, and feed into the furnace for remelting and producing new copper materials.

Project Commissioning

Recently, a 160T Hydraulic Metal Baler (Flip-Discharge) was successfully commissioned at a Chinese-invested copper recycling company in Samut Sakhon, Thailand.

The company specializes in the recycling and processing of scrap copper and other non-ferrous metals. Recovered copper scrap is compressed, collected, and subsequently remelted to produce recycled copper materials for further industrial use.

The baler is used to compress various types of loose scrap copper into compact bales measuring approximately 320 × 320 mm, making the material easier to store, handle, transport, and charge into the furnace.

Customer Requirements

The customer handles various types of scrap copper, including copper wires, copper tubes, copper components, and other industrial copper scrap.

Because these materials are often irregular in shape, loosely accumulated, and bulky, they can be difficult to store, transport, and efficiently charge into a furnace.

The customer therefore required a hydraulic metal baler to compress loose copper scrap into compact and uniform bales with higher density, improving the efficiency of storage, handling, transportation, and furnace charging.

Equipment & Main Specifications

  • Equipment: 160T Hydraulic Metal Baler (Flip-Discharge)
  • Chamber Size: 1500 × 900 × 700 mm
  • Bale Size: 320 × 320 mm
  • Bale Weight: Approx. 100–150 kg
  • Motor Power: 44 kW
  • Cooling System: Water Cooling
  • Processed Material: Scrap Copper
  • Bale Discharge: Flip-Discharge
  • Control Mode: Manual Control

The baler uses a high-pressure hydraulic system to compress loose copper scrap into dense and uniform bales, making the material more convenient for centralized storage, transportation, and furnace charging.

Project Results

After commissioning, the baler is mainly used for pre-processing scrap copper before remelting.

The compact bales occupy less storage space and are easier to handle, load, transport, and charge into the furnace. The standardized bale shape also helps improve the organization and efficiency of the customer's recycling operation.

Through the process of scrap copper collection → compression and baling → centralized transportation → furnace remelting → recycled copper production, the 160T hydraulic metal baler provides an efficient front-end solution for the customer's copper recycling operation in Thailand.
